High Fantasy Carnival!

One of my fellow book reviewers, Jo of the fantasy review blog Ink and Paper, is hosting The Bookworm's 50th Carnival. The theme this time is High fantasy. Unsure what a Carnival is? Head over and check out some great books! (I recommended a few).

As a participant, I have to answer Jo's question: What, in your opinion, makes a good high fantasy?

This is a tricky one. For me its like asking 'how long is a piece of string?' It can be any length. I guess I like strong female characters. I like lots of danger, some humour. I love magic, and different powers that people have. I like having the worlds quite different to our own, but also in some ways similar (for example having a bakery in a strange world would make me happy). I know what I like when I read it :)
