Keren David's When I Was Joe Online Launch Party!

Here's Keren!

There are few areas of the country which are unaffected by the large dumps of snow from the sky this week. Many of us are snowed in at home, unable to get out and about.

All authors dream of their first novel being published. It is the start of a wonderful journey, filled with some tough times, but its a culmination of an incredible amount of hard work.

I normally wouldn't do this - it would be a bit tricky to have an online launch party for every author's book. But this week is full of unusual weather patterns.

(picture taken from Keren's blog, from the last snow fall I can safely report there were no driving incidents this time)

For Keren David, author of When I Was Joe, (OUT TODAY!) is also snowed in, unable to attend launch parties and other publicity events.

Hence I'm holding a launch part for her!

When I Was Joe tackles contemporary issues in a sensitive manner. My review is here. This post is all about celebrating Keren's debut!

A party isn't a party without the following. All photos have been taken off the net from google images - credit goes to the owners, not me.

Soft, crumbling chocolate chip cookies!

Melt in the mouth cupcakes - with extra frosting!

Fruit filled milkshakes

Freshly squeezed juice

Comfy chairs to sit in

A quill and never-ending pot of Ink for Keren to sign books

It's a party - lets have balloons!

How could I forget icecream?

HAPPY LAUNCH DAY KEREN!

Hello everyone...Charlotte that's an incredibly exciting giveaway, can I have one?

Ciara said...

here's to you awesome achievement I will buy and read and share

fionadunbar said...

Naturally it falls to us authors to behave extremely badly at other authors' launch parties, so to fulfill that duty I shall now sit here at my desk drinking, swearing, and badmouthing everyone before falling over and insulting Keren's editor.

On the other hand, I could be NICE and say, congratulations, Keren! And, as I have said many times already, can't wait to read it. Which, of course, is what I really want to say.

Hic!

Keren David said...

Fiona if your copy hasn't arrived I now have one for you..but you will have to sledge over here to get it. Have some more Champagne dahling...

PS Yunaleska Oh dear, we shouldn't really he drinking should we. Luckily it's all virtual.

Keren David said...

Fish, leave some cookies for other people please - so pleased to see you here after your devastating weekend (check out Fish's brilliant blog to see what I mean).

Keren David said...

Joe, Cristy - this may just turn into a Frances Lincoln tradition, you never know...

Yunaleska said...

There is plenty of food for everyone - the food keeps reappearing whenever crumbs are left.

I'd like to say thank you to everyone for supporting Keren today. This launch party is turning out bigger than expected! Plus its nice that I can attend - usually I can't attend in the flesh publicity events.

Thank you to Frances Lincoln for signing on Keren, and to Keren for creating a great book!

(Er...I'm the wrong person to talk to. I don't drink :) That's why I put juice and milkshakes)

Whoohoo for copies of Almost True! I've requested a copy.

Keren - don't you have a copy of your own book?

Keren David said...

Not yet..we're still at the editing stage. That's why I'm a little stunned. You may have to wait a bit for your copy...

Yunaleska said...

Ahhh I see. I don't mind waiting :)

Charlotte Courtney said...

Apologies, that was supposed to say we will send you a free copy when it is published, a delayed party bag if you like.

Love all at FL

maryom said...

Congratulations Keren. Must track down your book when we can get out and about again. Meanwhile, could i have a little drinkie to go with all the ice I've got?

Emily said...

I'd better get cracking with that edit then, eh Keren? I'll just have half a glass of champagne to toast the author and perhaps a small cupcake, and then back to it!

Congrats again Keren and enjoy the party everyone.

Emily (FL)

Keren David said...

Take your time Emily...large glass of Champagne...Fiona wants to insult you...

Becky said...

I hope I haven't missed all the fun. I've been managing an empty library all morning.

Happy release day Keren!

Yunaleska said...

As far as I'm aware, the party won't have an official end date until at least midnight :D

Becky said...

Thank goodness. I was so annoyed at myself for bothering to go to work. I hope the headmaster doesn't read this LOL

Thank goodness it was a half day!!!

I'll have some punch please!

Keren David said...

Becky! Have a fairycake and don't forget the ALmost True giveaway

Becky said...

It is okay. Charlotte has promised me a copy of Almost True so I am dancing the conga!

Wow - it's crowded in here! Great party, Yulaneska! Keren, as your agent, I couldn't be more proud or delighted for you than I am today. Thanks for all your professionalism, humour and infinite creativity over the past year. It's a pleasure to work with you on your projects. A privilege, actually. I gush, but on these occasions, gushing is surely allowed. Now I will toast you, along with everyone at Nurnberg's, who send huge congratulations. And that cup cake definitely has my name on it... x

Hah Becky, you wouldn't say that if you could hear them fighting. Hoping that school might happen tomorrow for at least one of them.
Mark..let me press you to a jelly (did you ever hear Grandma's great story to which that was the punchline?)
