Summary from Random House Children's Books
Alfie
and his best friend Bernard have a day out full of surprises when they
go to meet a very great person indeed. What's more there are secret dens
to explore, snowy skies, birthday fun and a very unexpected visitor on a
special night-time trip!

This
is a read which made me grow wadm inside how Alfie and his friend
Bernard are considerate to others, like different things but get on
well. When Alfie gets to the house he is staying in for a short break it
reminded me so much of The Railway Children the film (not sure
which version) when the family first get into their new house. The
illustrations aren't a style I like but I give this 8/10.
