Nayuleska's thoughts
This is a read which made me grow wadm inside how Alfie and his friend Bernard are considerate to others, like different things but get on well. When Alfie gets to the house he is staying in for a short break it reminded me so much of The Railway Children the film (not sure which version) when the family first get into their new house. The illustrations aren't a style I like but I give this 8/10.

You can find out more about Alfie and Shirley on the dedicated website.
