Nayu's thoughts
I adore cute things and bunnies, so having cute bunnies
on the cover and in the book made me fall in love with this gem of a
story before I read it. I almost squealed at how cute the hamster and
guinea pigs look!!! They are not only adorable, but caring and doing
their best for Kiki's birthday, so much so that she thinks they have
forgotten it.
The way that Raffiki goes to each friend is charming,
they all offer something that is easy for them to being-wait until
you reach the part with the hedgehog (who is cute too) and the
balloon! It's a tale with friendship at its core, plus cuteness which everyone will enjoy. I think it depicts birthday surprises perfectly - how the birthday person feels no one is paying them attention when the reality is quite different.
Suggested read
Another cute read with bunnies is No More Cuddles! By Jane Chapman (Children's, Picture book, 10E/10E)
