The First Slodge by Jeanne Willis and Jenni Desmond (Children's, Picture book, 10E/10E, short 'n' sweet review)

Super cute Slodge!
6th April 2015, Little Tiger Press, 32 pages, Hardback, Review copy

Content: cuteness

Summary from Little Tiger Press
Once upon a slime, there was a Slodge. The first Slodge in the universe. She saw the first moon and stars, the first fruits and flowers. “Mine, all mine!” she said. But what if there was not just one Slodge . . . but two?

Nayu's thoughts
This is an undeniably cute read! Look at the slodge – isn't she lovely? I was privileged to receive a slodge tea towel which I'm going to treasure.

I spent most of the book going 'aww' just from the expressions Slodge has as she explores the world. I giggled when Slodge met the other Slodge, because when they bickered they really hated each other which seemed at odds with their cuteness.

Thankfully they do learn to get along, and the ending made me laugh even more, and look at the tea towel in a new light. It's a sweet way to introduce aspects of sharing and compassion to others. Being selfish helps no one, which the Slodges learn.
