Rory and the Monster Sitter by Rosie Reeve (Children's, Picture book, 10E/10E, semi short 'n' sweet review)

July 2014, Bloomsbury, 32 pages, Paperback, Review copy

Summary from Bloomsbury
Rory loves to cook. He's always inventing new recipes like blue pancakes, cheese bats and hairy cakes . . .

One evening, when his mum and dad go out to dinner, leaving Rory and his siblings with the babysitter, tummies start to rumble.

It's time for Rory to cook up a real monster feast!

A hilarious and unexpected tale – with a twist of pepper! - See more at: http://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/rory-and-the-monstersitter-9781408845516/#sthash.tK4V2y9r.dpuf

Nayuleska's thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed learning how Rory lived, with all the furniture and tools being monster themed. It felt like I'd known him for ages, not just a few minutes. The end blew me away. I seriously didn't expect the twist! I sat there stunned, and then laughed because it was rather funny. I wanted to reread the book straight away to take it all back in, this time having hindsight. I hope Rory gets to feature in another book, he is a total star here!

Another highly amusing tail is Troll and The Oliver by Adam Stower (Children's, Picture book, 10E/10E)
