Competition #1: I love books because...

Right! It's competition time. I'm having a look through the books I have, and I need to donate some of them to you.

The rules are simple!

1. One entry only.
2. Deadline is Thursday 1st of October.

I'll be doing this every two weeks, depending on how many books need to find loving homes.

All you have to do is a leave a comment explaining why you love reading books. That's all.

2 winners will receive a pack of three books each: one of these will be a surprise book, the other two, well they can pick from the selection on offer (which will be sent after the closing date. It'll be the books I've reviewed here).

One winner will be chosen at random. The other will be the person whose answer I like the best. I'm being both objective and subjective here.

Depending on the number of entries, there could be runners up winning 1 book each.

This is a global competition! I'll post even if you live on the south pole. I can't promise the polar bears won't eye up the book.

Books are in very good condition. Not quite like new, because as a reviewer I've bent a few pages over at the corner, and there are lines down the spine. Free books!

I love to read for some many reasons! I love being being able to go to other places and times and worlds by simply opening a book. I love getting to watch people's lives unfold in front of me, and no one accuses me of being a peeping tom! And best of all? I love that I can escape my own problems for awhile...

Thank you for entering RWJ!

Am I allowed to say I'm worried not many people will enter? First competition...still getting to grips with all this *waves around* book review blogging :)

I love to read because I am a big dreamer, and with books, I get to "experience" the impossible. I get to live the lives of others, I get to witness the use of magic, I get to see some amazing creatures. Also, I love the excitment that comes with reading that I would never get in my normal life. In the comfort of my own home, sitting on the sofa, I can be apart of seriously dangerous situations.
Basically, reading is the best escapism, for me.

As there are so few people entering this contest, I'm going to tweet about it :)

Thanks Jo! I've been marketing this as much as possible, but your tweet will hopefully help.

Why do I love to read? Books are home to me. Just like a real home where you feel safe and comfortable and you can do anything without fear.

They are that comfy. cozy place that cheers me up when depressed and calms me down when I'm nervous.

I also get to meet new and interesting people through them. Travel to exciting places and learn facts that I might never have known otherwise.

So far everyone's a winner :D

I love to read, because it takes me somewhere else. Somewhere there is no paper to write, dishes to do, or expectations from anyone. When I read I can be alone, but not lonely, fearful, but not in danger, in love, but not risking my heart. Reading is the time that is just for me.

Yuna, you're awesome for holding this giveaway.

I read because I love the infinite possibilities in books. Each one is an escape, a world to explore, people to meet and get to know on a level that we don't always achieve in our daily lives. I think too reading always reminds me of the wonder of being a kid. You know anything is possible and for a short time, you can slough off the responsible, politically correct exterior of an adult and just experience the imagination in a way that most forget to touch when they grow up.

Have a great week!

SO exciting! Awesome contest, Yunarina, thank you! :D

Why do I love books? Because they're both relaxing and thought-provoking at the same time. Because they expand your horizons, take you to other places and to meet other people that you've never been or seen before. Because they contain an infinite world of possibility, a place where anything can and does happen - and because of this, we can learn just a little of why, perhaps, some things oughtn't happen.

Books grow minds. And my mind likes feeling stretchy B-)

Books have fascinated and compelled me since childhood. They seem to be filled with mystery, possibilities and promises. I love books with simple, attractive covers and I love the feel and smell of the paper when you turn the pages.

There is a secret pleasure to peeling back the pages as you do the layers of the narrative. When my daughters are loving a book they read, they sleep with it under the pillow - you can't do that with an online story.

I love to read because, well, Anne of Green Gables said it better than me.

Anne: "Don't you imagine things differently than they are?"
Marilla (sternly): "No."
Anne (sadly): "Oh, Marilla, how much you miss!"

P.S. There are no Polar Bears at the South Pole. I know 'cause I live near the North Pole where they really do.

Before, I used to love to read because books were my magic carpet that took me away. They were the sword that helped me kill dragons and rescue that princess in the tower.

Now, I love books because I love words. Coming across a nicely turned phrase, a wonderful character, or beautiful description is like food to my soul.

Wonderful contest and the form of entry is so befitting the prize!

Why I love to read....well there are many reasons. One could be the fact that my mom read to me when I was little (and by little I mean both young, and before I was born!)...another could be the fascinating worlds created in books that offer an escape from everyday life.....and yet another could be I'm just a book-a-holic in general and don't need a reason....
I'll leave it as all of the above and then some!

Thanks for the great contest! Count me in!

Keep the entries coming! Unless there is a rapid increase of entries, so far everyone, apart from the main winner, will win 1 book.

Note: depending on the weight of the package, most may have to go by sea mail, rather than air mail. It does mean hopefully the book will arrive and you'll think 'what's this?'. I promise the books are more than worth it.

Awesome contest :D!

One of the reasons I love to read is getting to experience life through other people's eyes. I get to experience a character's tragedies, their joys, their trials, errors, and passions. I not only get to go to another world while reading a book, I get to go into another person and understand what makes them tick.

It's fascinating, it's wonderful, and it's something you don't get anywhere else. People say a good book is good because of it's characters. I totally agree!
