Summary from Scholastic
Big hair. Big voice. From her catwalk punk looks to her unbelieveable but actually true story, Tallia is the real Geek Girl
– with amazing music! No wonder we’re shouting about her first novel
based on her own lucky break. Question: why would a teenage girl want to
miss the holiday of a lifetime in Hawaii? Answer: to compete in a
once-in-a-lifetime UK talent show. Storm Hall is the voice of the
future. She only lives to sing. But now she’s going to miss her chance
at fame. For Storm, Hawaii’s island paradise is more like a private
hell. Until she meets a Hawaiian band who need a singer…
Nayu's thoughts
Although
at times Storm is reckless, mean, selfish,
self-centred, and gets too used to being in the spot-light, overall
the close to reality tale of how Storm became a singing sensation is
fun to read. I have to say that it's her wild, mischievous younger
brothers who stole the show for me. Their antics are unimaginable –
they are that crazy and cause so much embarrassment for both Storm
and her parents, but somehow they are cute too. The mayhem they cause
mostly hinders Storm, although at one point the diversion is much
needed.
