Nayuleska's thoughts
Oh my! This is the end of the trilogy, and boy what an ending. It started off with Marlin in peril - I had to remember to breathe while reading how he survived. There was a nice lull of sorts in the story, before everything went very wrong for Marlin, and I had to remember to breathe again. It's an extremely gripping tale, one that is easy to get caught up in.
Marlin deals with some practical issues which sometimes can be stretched too far in a story (how the main character gets where they are without the rest of the world knowing about their adventure), but it was seamlessly woven into this tale. I loved being back with the dinotek dinosaurs - they are really funny, especially when they get in a mood and when they get creative. They had nifty ideas which helped both them and Marlin out.
Knowing the prize of the competition below this review, it's only appropriate that I talk about how awesome Flame is. Flame has many abilities which have remain hidden until this book in the series, which are incredible and ones I wish I could experience. Ever seen a T-Rex skateboard? Flame does...kind of - and with Marlin! I can't say more than that, other than it is ACE!
There were several big revelations, including how the dinoteks came into being, which I was gobsmacked by. Of course it made sense, and I wondered why I hadn't realised that earlier, but the reason is that the clues weren't there - the missing link was missing until the end. I like books which surprise me like this one has. Everything got turned around at the end - I'm so excited about Marlin's next adventure with endless possibilities for future stories! I'm sure you will be too.
