Summary from Random House Children's Publishers
Butterfly wants everything to be perfect for her perfect birthday party.
She's got her dress, her cake and the fairies are helping her with the
invites and decoration. But when it rains and everybody has to go home
the other fairies help to save the day!
Nayuleska's thoughts
Whenever I read a book in this series I
instantly think of the anime Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Adventures because
the friends each have their own colour scheme and style.
Lemon Meringue loves yellow, like Butterfly! |
Butterfly loves
yellow, and uses it for her birthday theme. She strives for perfection, which
seems in sight until her actual birthday when everything that could go wrong
does go wrong. I loved how hard the other fairies tried to surprise her. Having
them wake Butterfly up by singing happy birthday was a sweet surprise. I loved
Butterfly's pyjamas!
I enjoyed their lesson of how to open up flowers,
especially with one fairy sitting on the floor with virtually all the petals off
the flower. Butterfly learns that you can plan as much as you like but you
can't predict mishaps. Her friends learnt it is possible to surprise someone
who does all the work themselves, you just have to be a bit creative.
Suggested read
Be sure to read the other books in the
series, as well as another birthday read Princess Milly's Mixed-Up Magic: The Birthday Surprise by Clemency Pearce & Lauren Beard (Children's, Picture book, 10/10E)
