Faux Paw by Julia Dweck and Walter Carzon (Children's, Picture book, 10E/10E, short 'n' sweet review)

October 2013, Xist Publishing, Ebook, Review copy

Summary from Amazon (I don't get anything by mentioning them, it's not yet on Xist's website)
Waldon Bear is a little boy who wants to be a bear.
“That’s impossible,” says his teacher, Mrs. Hunter.  “Human children grow up to be human adults, not animals!”  But Waldon refuses to listen. Can Waldon make it as a bear in school?

Nayuleska's thoughts
Yet another book from Julia which brought me loads of smiles thanks to the funny story filled with unexpected twists. I half expected the person at the end to be Walter's mother. She is a wonderful mother who encourages her son in what he wants to be. His teacher doesn't approve, not when Walter appears in a bear suit which inspires his classmates to do the same - they looked mega cute in their different outfits. There are interesting bear facts after the story, although what interested me most was the reason behind the story from Julia. Everyone has the right to be who they want to be - I pray that everyone has at least one other person supporting their choices in life so they have confidence to endure any who disapprove of them.
