Hello Kitty: Let's Pretend (Children's, Picture book, 9/10)

October 2012, Ladybird
12 pages, Hardback
Review copy

Themes: imagination, pretending, being different people, doing different things, counting, working things out, lots of fun

Summary from Puffin

Hello Kitty loves to use her imagination and dress up. Little hands can turn the giant tabs to see Hello Kitty, Mimmy, Thomas and other friends around the garden, around town and around the world. Guess who Hello Kitty is pretending to be on each page of this colourful, padded book, and meet some of her best friends along the way!

Nayuleska's thoughts

As regular readers know, I adore all things cute and Hello Kitty is no exception. I loved the expressions and creativity behind the costume changes - there's a wide variety to please both boys and girls. The images are in the usual hello kitty simple style, colourful and definitely give readers ideas of who they can pretend to be. I think it'll also encourage a little bit of research into each role presented by Hello Kitty, making it an educational book too.

The only reason it got 9/10 is because I didn't like when Hello Kitty wore a bikini - possibly just me but compared with all the other outfits a normal swimming costume would have been fine. I adored the Mimmy Mermaid!
