Pocket Cats #7 Double Dare by Kitty Wells (5 years +)

March 2011, David Fickling Books
208 pages, paperback,
Review copy,

Children's, 5 years +

Themes: Magical cats, school life, new friend on the scene, a girl with a past, sleepover, friends falling out and making up, dangerous antics, humour

Nayuleska's reason for loving Maddy...like me (in the past) she has fallen under the spell of trying to be popular and not being true to herself. She does figure it out eventually.

Is there another character who deserves a mention? Maddy's friend Rachel is always there for Her, and suffers a bit in this story.

How evil/nasty is the enemy? Not out and out nasty, there is usually a reason why people put on an act.

Are there plenty of plot twists and surpriises? Enough for this type of book, although I guessed most of them.

One of my favourite parts was...when Maddy feels bad for not treating Rachel kindly, because its a very human emotion and I think most people have been in her situation in at least once.

This emotion packed read gets 10/10 from me.

Suggested read
The final Pocket Cat book Friends Forever which had me needing a lot of tissues.
